What you can expect from Backheeled in 2024

We're gearing up for a big year with even more coverage.

It’s an anniversary for us here at Backheeled!

Today marks one year since we published our first article on the new-look website. It’s also been exactly one year since we started offering subscriptions, providing you, dear reader, with access to every bit of our quality coverage of soccer in and around the United States.

Of the 250 stories we’ve published in the last year, here are just a handful of the things we’re most proud of:

Over the next year, we’re going to boost our output, publishing even more stories that shine a thoughtful, creative light on the American soccer landscape.

During the MLS season, we’re going to be covering every single team in the league, every single week with a pair of new columns. We’re going to continue to bolster our coverage of the USL and the NWSL, too, with more stories and insights throughout the year. In addition to league-specific coverage, we’re adding some fun recurring series, along with new data-infused stories.

With a big 2024 coming for the USMNT, we’re making our biggest commitment to in-person coverage yet. We’ll be traveling around the country to cover each and every U.S. game at this summer’s Copa America. For the USWNT, we’ll dig all the way into the start of the Emma Hayes era, assessing the on and off-field changes like no one else.

Backheeled won’t just have more coverage over the next year. No, we’ll also have new and improved subscriber perks! Along with a new welcome gift, paid subscribers now automatically earn entries in our shiny new quarterly raffles.

For the first quarter of 2024? We’re mailing out a batch of Backheeled’s Famous Cookies straight to your door. These things are the real deal. People are already calling them “the best cookies ever baked by an American soccer website and mailed to one of their subscribers”. That’s a super real quote. We didn’t make that up.

So, if you’re already one of our paid subscribers: thank you. We appreciate you a ton and are excited to bring you even more and better American soccer coverage over the next year.

If you’re not a Backheeled subscriber, you can become one today! For what amounts to less than 20 cents per article, you can get access to the best independent American soccer coverage out there.

We’re excited about the year to come and look forward to bringing you our best.
