MLS is back: What’s gone right, wrong for all 30 teams so far this year
With MLS returning from its World Cup break later this week, let’s remember where we left off and ponder what comes next.

Atlanta United

Biggest need: Center back

Stian Gregersen can’t stay healthy. Enea Mihaj hasn’t proven himself to be a useful starter. Juan Berrocal is gone. The Five Stripes should use a chunk of the cap space they’ve generated by jettisoning a few parts already this summer to take another swing at a defensive anchor.

Austin FC

Biggest need: Midfield

While Austin’s glaring lack of a chance creator has hummed along in the background while two different managers have been hired and fired, I’d wait to land a splashy final third provider until they find a way to open a Designated Player spot. For now? With Dani Pereira traded to CF Montreal, there’s a need deeper in midfield.
