COLUMBUS, Ohio — “No plans to add a fourth DP.”

Speaking to a group of journalists at Lower.com Field on Friday, MLS commissioner Don Garber ruled out the possibility of the league letting its teams sign another designated player next season. Garber discussed roster rules and a host of other topics related to the league and its future in his annual State of the League address.

Here are some of the highlights.

Roster changes?

“No plans to add a fourth DP, but there will be announcements coming out of our board meeting, which is next week,” Garber said on Friday.

That board meeting will take place on Thursday, December 14. Even without an extra DP, MLS apparently has plans to change something on the roster rules side ahead of the 2024 season. “There'll be some exciting things that we're going to announce next week,” the commissioner said.
