Former FC Dallas data analyst Arman Kafai breaks down a set of insightful stats from around MLS.

St. Louis City, 0.07

Last weekend, St. Louis played to a 0-0 draw against FC Dallas at home. A quick glance at some of the numbers gives the impression that the youngest club in MLS dominated the visitors, but a deeper look shows that St. Louis’ 1.9 xG came from 27 total shots. That breaks out to a below-average 0.07 xG per shot figure. Outside of a late Sam Adenaren chance for St. Louis, they failed to create a chance above 0.13 xG.

Again, while the volume was high, the quality of the shots was so far from ideal. Dallas created three of the four top chances in the match, including a late Dante Sealy shot that went over the bar.

Right now, St. Louis City are struggling to replicate the crazy start they had last year.
