The USMNT is where its supposed to be after Gold Cup win over Haiti

Here's what we learned from the United States' 2-1 win over Haiti at the Gold Cup.

ARLINGTON, Texas – The U.S. men’s national team defeated Haiti 2-1 on Sunday to close out their Gold Cup group stage slate. Goals from Malik Tillman and Patrick Agyemang ensured the U.S. took the maximum nine points in the group stage ahead of the quarterfinals.

Let’s dig into the USMNT’s latest win, with plenty of color from the team's key figures.

The changes

Mauricio Pochettino didn’t confirm that he’d rotate during his press conference on Saturday, but four new faces in the lineup wasn’t a surprise. The U.S. had kept the same starting 11 for its first two group games, but after a frustrating first half against Saudi Arabia on a hot Thursday night in Austin, Pochettino made sensible changes. Tyler Adams made his first start of the summer, taking Sebastian Berhalter’s spot in midfield, and John Tolkin finally got his audition at left back.
