USL Championship award frontrunners: MVP, Young Player, Coach of the Year & more

As we near the end of the season, these figures have the best claims to the biggest awards.

The USL Championship’s regular season has five weeks left to play, and the major awards races across the division are beginning to calcify. Which players and coaches from across the league are in the driver’s seat, and what’s setting them apart?

Let’s dig in.

Most Valuable Player

The Golden Ball should go to the player that’s made the greatest contribution to winning soccer, and Taylor Davila is that player. Davila has willingly sat deeper in the Louisville midfield this year as his teammates go to work, and that’s impacted his goal output. Judging on that criterion would miss the point. The 25-year-old Davila already has eight assists this season – better than in 2024 – while upping his per-game tackle numbers by 21% and making 6.4 recoveries a match. Whether LouCity needs possessive surety, a rest defense anchor, or a killer passer in the final third, Davila is up to the task.
