Mauricio Pochettino spoke to the media after revealing his September roster. Here’s what we learned about a team in flux.

The U.S. men’s national team’s roster for a pair of friendlies next month was released on Tuesday.

Ahead of a matchup with South Korea on September 6th in Harrison, New Jersey and a clash with Japan three days later in Columbus, Ohio, Mauricio Pochettino spoke with the media about his 22-man roster. A 23rd player will be announced in the coming days, as per the U.S. manager.

One last window for new faces

While some MLS-based holdovers from this past summer’s Gold Cup squad were expected to feature in September, the sheer volume of them was a surprise.
