MLS Winners and Losers: Cavan Sullivan’s first start, Vancouver Whitecaps fall back to earth & more

Sullivan played an hour on the road in Nashville, the ‘Caps are frustrated, the variance monster showed itself, and more.

It’s in the title, folks. Every week during the MLS season, Backheeled will dive into the biggest Winners and Losers from around the league. This week, a hot dog legend reappeared when the world needed him most, Cavan Sullivan made his first start, a hot-streak continued, and more.

On a serious note before we start: our best wishes to Stefan Frei, who left Sunday's 1-1 draw between the Seattle Sounders and the Columbus Crew in an ambulance after taking a knee to the head late in the match.

As soon as we get a definitive, a real, good clarity on the extent of the injury, we'll give you more. I don't want to speculate. He is going to the hospital, but he is fine. He was alert when he was loaded onto the ambulance…I'm very happy for our medical staff because they did a good job to be careful. We can't underestimate that type of stuff."

Get well soon, Stefan.
