Welcome to Laminated, our weekly soccer predictions column inspired by, well, this tweet.

I told myself I wouldn’t get excited.

They won’t get me this year. The World Cup is years away. It’s not an official FIFA international window. Anthony “we’re fighting at the bottom with a bottom group of players” Hudson is in charge of the camp. And yet, here I am. Excited for January camp. Someone help me. I think there’s something wrong with my brain.

I’m out in California right now covering the U.S. men’s national team for their two friendlies this week and I have to admit, the roster is made up of a bunch of fun names. 13 players in the 24-man squad are uncapped. 11 are in their first-ever U.S. senior team camp. Eight could be in the Olympics next year.

So, with all of that said, I'm channeling my unexpected excitement into this week’s edition of Laminated. Today, I'm making five predictions for the USMNT and its players in this January camp.
