Like father, like son.
Separated by 30 years, the Freeman family is now seeing its second generation of sporting excellence across two separate sports. In 1995, Antonio Freeman broke out in the NFL after he was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the NFL draft and played a major role in making the Packers the envy of the league.
Fast forward to 2025 and Antonio’s son Alex Freeman has become one of the top young American players in MLS.
After winning the starting right back job for Orlando City, Alex has taken full advantage of his opportunity. The 20-year-old has played every game for Orlando this season, starting each one following the club’s opening day loss to the Philadelphia Union. Freeman, a regular U.S. youth international and former MLS Next Pro standout, has scored three goals and added one assist along the way, earning rave reviews as an up-and-coming star.
